This past Thursday, I had the opportunity to be one of the presenters (along with Sherry Kappel, Stacy Gittleman, and representatives from several law firms) at an all-day NY Word Legal Users Group event that was hosted at the NYC Microsoft office. It was a terrific day - I learned a lot, reconnected with many familiar faces, and had the chance to meet a lot of folks with extremely varied and valuable Office experience.
As promised during that session, I have now updated the Genius Resources page on this site (click the link here or in the left navigation pane).
I still need to update some of the other resource pages on this site (such as to add a few recent webcasts) - but you can still use the links under get help with Office in the left hand pane for many additional free learning resources (such as webcasts on collaborating with users of earlier Office versions and online tutorials (Office Online training courses) on the basics of the Open XML Formats. You can also get more info on my Office 2007 book at the my books link here or in the navigation pane (including a PDF sample chapter on content controls that you can download).
Over the next week or two, I will be doing some additional posting here to fill in a couple of blanks for things we didn't get a chance to cover during the event last Thursday. The first of these posts, which I will endeavor to do by end of this week, will be on the new (in 2007, that is) explicit style type - Linked Styles - how it resolves the old Char and Para bugs, and (as Stacy had wanted to show you during the event) -- how to use Linked Styles as a TOC shortcut.
... and please remember to use the Click to Contact link at the bottom of this page if you have a question that you didn't get a chance to ask at the event, or one that's arisen since. If you have a question for the group rather than one specifically for me ... do keep in mind also that the Word Legal User's Group has a GREAT forum - to reach it, just click here).
Thanks so much to the New York World Legal User's Group and to Microsoft for a terrific day...
... and happy Monday everybody!
